What is a flipped classroom?

Online vs. Classroom infographicCRTeacher is home to an interactive online environment powered by the open-source software Moodle. Moodle is commonly known as a Learning Management System (LMS), or software designed to manage and provide learning opportunities via the Internet.

Moodle is used to enhance traditional face-to-face classroom instruction, often called “blended learning.” Moodle can help teachers to “flip the classroom” by providing online access to passive materials so that class time may be used for active learning. Moodle can also be used to facilitate online learning where students may never physically meet, or even interact at the same time.

Individual teachers may purchase an annual CRTeacher subscription to be provided with editing teacher access to up to 5 courses with 1GB total storage for use by up to 150 students.

Students with email access can create their own user accounts and then search or browse courses to enroll. 


Author and manage your own Moodle course(s):

    1. Purchase an annual CRTeacher subscription. You will need to actively choose to renew your subscription each year as renewals are not automated.
    2. Our staff will receive payment notification and reply by email within 1-2 business days with setup instructions.
    3. Once we receive your reply to our setup email, our staff will create your Moodle course(s), and assign your user account to the CRTeacher role with full editing teacher rights.
    4. Our staff will reply with a confirmation email directing you to CRTeacher subscriber documentation.
    5. Login and begin preparing your online courses for use with your target audience.


Access your teacher's Moodle course(s):

    1. Create a new user account using a valid email address that you can access.
    2. Check your inbox for a confirmation email from CRTeacher and complete the registration process by clicking the URL provided. Inspect your spam if you can't find the confirmation email.

      If you don't receive a confirmation email, contact your teacher and ask s/he to submit a support ticket with your name and email address for manual authentication.
    3. You may now browse or search CRTeacher for the course name provided by your teacher.
    4. If configured by your teacher, you may also be prompted to provide an enrollment key, which should also be provided by your teacher.
    5. After enrolling, links to your courses will be available in the My courses block.
