I enjoyed reading your post. It sounds like your customer was dealing with quite a bit and that you showed him the empathy needed which helped him to get back on track. This directly correlates with what we discussed and read last week, well done!
It is a shame that the career advisor wasn't more helpful and failed to "put herself" in his shoes so to speak which would have maybe given her a bit more empathy too. This is a great success story and I'd love to know whether it was the original wife or a new one that he "found." That was an interesting way to put it so I was a bit confused!
I would also like to know how you grew because of this. You mentioned that this experience helped you so I was wondering if it was due to the research you did for him and/or a combination of also seeing him succeed?
