The example I will use is when I assisted my friend with revamping her resume and cover letter for her job search.
1. My motives for helping were first and foremost, our friendship. Also, I knew the struggles she was having in her role at the time and her need to move forward. I knew that I could help her obtain better prospects.
2. She ultimately paid me for my expertise and for helping her land a phenomenal job. She's also providing a review of my services on LinkedIn.
3. My role in this particular activity was coach and resume writer. I was there to guide her through interview prep, negotiation, etc. as well as rewriting her resume and cover letter. I believe that I helped increase her confidence when it came to talking about her accomplishments, transferrable skill sets, and more. I also helped her understand how to relate her Military experience to the jobs she was interviewing for. I don't know that there is much, if anything, I would've done differently in this particular scenario.
4. The main things that I disagreed with that were certain parts of her military background didn't relate. I was able to help her see how it did relate and teach her how to talk about it.
5. This was one of the scenarios that help me realize that I truly enjoy helping others in the career realm. It also helped build my confidence in my resume writing abilities and my knowledge of job search/career.
