1. Someone in the hostel I was staying at was feeling unwell. I was taking a course on wilderness medicine and had just learned some basic evaluation. In addition to caring about his wellbeing, I wanted to capitalize on the opportunity to use skills I had learned earlier that day.

3. I don't think I helped this person. I was too solution minded, but was not trained to actually diagnose an issue. I could have been more empathetic.
4. This person did not seem to want to get better. Code for: they did not want my help. I gave them their space and wished them well.
5. I had forgotten about it until this discussion post. At the time, no, I don't think I learned much. Now, I would be more conscientious about non verbal cues that suggest someone does not actually want x,y, or z.
