Cultivating the  Jhāna Factors is the second in a series of courses on the development of concentration, and will focus on cultivation of the five jhāna factors—directed and sustained attention, rapture, joy, equanimity, and one-pointed attention. These factors develop in the natural course of concentration. Each jhāna factor overpowers a particular hindrance, develops powerful skills, and enhances deep happiness as the mind prepares for meditative absorption.

This course will include recorded lectures and guided meditations, reading assignments, sutta study, discussion forums, audio conferences with the teacher, and a library of resources.

Please note there is a prerequisite for enrollment in this course: Participation in a previous course (Overcoming Obstacles to Concentration or The Beautiful Mind); or Self and Not-Self: The Construction of Identity and the Five Clinging Aggregates (upcoming May 30-Aug 6, 2016) ; or previous retreat experience with Shaila Catherine and approval by the teacher, is required.
