There's an epidemic in the workforce development field: telling. Yes…telling! It's time to change, because our workforce climate has changed. Jobseekers respond better when we ask, not tell. When we coach, we help our customers uncover their hidden potential. That helps them grow in confidence and hope so critical after suffering job loss or entering the workforce for the first time. So, how do we do this? For starters, asking the "right" questions of a jobseeker puts the responsibility back on them – not you. It empowers them to take ownership of the career development process, and that leads to better organizational outcomes.
